What we know about Diablo V crafting

Built on ideas from Lord of Hatred - and nothing more specific than that.

Original HellCodex illustration. Not official Blizzard artwork.

Blizzard stated an intention: Diablo V's crafting should build on ideas from Lord of Hatred. That is a direction, not a system, so this page carries the Developer statement state.

The only structural hint

Caravan members were described as possibly serving as upgrade stations for crafting and supply. If that holds, crafting capability becomes something you recruit rather than something you unlock - which would be unusual, and would tie crafting to the caravan's growth.

Both halves of that paragraph are unconfirmed. Treat it as a thing to watch, not a thing to plan around.

Nothing has been said about

  • Materials, salvage or reroll mechanics.
  • Whether crafted items can compete with drops.
  • How crafting interacts with runewords and sets.
