Demon Hunter
Discipline in the face of oblivion. A new generation steps from the shadows.
Some truths
should never die
Three classes have been revealed so far. More are expected before release - this page grows with every reveal.
Three classes have been revealed: the Demon Hunter, the Monk and the Plague Knight. Blizzard named them at the announcement and gave each a sentence or two, which is less than it sounds like.
A reveal of this kind confirms that a class exists and roughly how it fights. It does not confirm a resource system, a skill tree, whether there are specialisations, or how any of that meets itemisation - and Diablo V's itemisation is openly built on Diablo II, which is the part most likely to decide how a class actually plays. The distance between "confirmed to exist" and "understood" is where class speculation lives, so every page below keeps the two apart in separate lists.
The Plague Knight is the only one of the three without precedent: it spreads diseases and then consumes them as a source of power. The Demon Hunter and the Monk both return from earlier games, and neither return has been explained in terms of continuity - nothing published connects Diablo V's Demon Hunter to the order of the same name in Diablo III.
How many classes the game will have has not been said. Further classes are to be revealed later, which is a developer statement and not a number. Game director Joe Shely has said the plan is more classes than any base Diablo game has had - a direction, not a count. Until one is given, any roster count built out from these three is guesswork, and this page will go on saying so.
| Class | Archetype | Confirmed | Still open | State |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Demon Hunter | Ranged / mobility | 4 details | 4 questions | Confirmed |
| Monk | Melee / holy | 3 details | 4 questions | Confirmed |
| Plague Knight | New class / disease | 3 details | 4 questions | Confirmed |
Counted from the same records the class pages are built from. Every confirmed detail rests on Blizzard's announcement, which each page cites.

Speculation, clearly labelled as such. Blizzard has not announced the total number of classes.
Diablo V's itemisation is openly built on Diablo II, and the caravan already includes a former Sister of the Sightless Eye. That is context, not a reveal - no additional class has been confirmed.
