What Sanctuary is now used for

Sanctuary serves as the staging ground for an assault on the High Heavens. The population and their souls are used as weapons in the Eternal Conflict. Humanity is no longer the prize being fought over - it is materiel.

Who you are

You play the Heir to Westmarch. There is a connection between the player character and Diablo that Blizzard has confirmed exists and has not explained.

Where you start

The initial focus is the Western Continent.

Who is left

Humans have submitted to Diablo, joined cults, or been corrupted into powerful Dread Commanders. The survivors who did none of those things are the people you travel with in the caravan.

What is not confirmed

The act structure, the ending, whether other Prime Evils appear, and what the connection to Diablo actually is.
