Diablo V: Forging the Next Era - the full panel recap

Blizzard publishes a written summary of the Diablo V development panel.

Blizzard has published a written recap of the Diablo V panel. It is currently the single densest source of confirmed systems information about the game.

What the recap adds

  • Itemisation is strongly influenced by Diablo II.
  • Items of different sizes occupy different numbers of inventory squares again.
  • Equipment sets return.
  • Runes and runewords in the style of Diablo II are planned.
  • Blizzard is experimenting with stat requirements on gear.
  • Crafting is intended to build on ideas from Lord of Hatred.
  • The world is procedurally altered between visits.
  • A travelling caravan of survivors replaces permanently safe cities.

What it does not add

No platforms, no monetisation, no endgame structure, no PvP, no test phases. The recap is a systems document, not a business one.

Each individual statement above is filed separately, with its own state and source, in Everything we know.

What changed

Every correction and status change on this page is recorded here.

  • Corrected: stat requirements on gear were listed as confirmed. Blizzard's panel recap says it is "experimenting with" them, which is a statement of intent - they are now filed as one.
