Diablo IV keeps its seasons after Diablo V launches

The answer to "is Diablo IV on life support?" was no.

Announcing a sequel two and a half years out raises an awkward question for the game people are playing now. Asked by Icy Veins at BlizzCon whether Diablo IV was going on life support, its game director Brent Gibson said it was not. On seasons specifically, as reported by VGC on 29 September:

We are planning on supporting seasons as long as the community continues to show up for Diablo 4, similar to what we have in Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. There are still people who play those games, and as long as you're showing up, we're going to continue to be making content.

"If you're worried, don't sweat it," he added. "Because we're going to be making content for a long time."

What it means for Diablo V

Directly, not much: it is a statement about Diablo IV. It does mean nobody is planning to switch Diablo IV off when Diablo V arrives in the spring 2029 window. It says nothing about whether Diablo V will have seasons or a battle pass of its own - that is still unanswered.

How it is filed

A developer statement, cited through VGC's report of the interview rather than Icy Veins itself: Icy Veins refuses requests from anything that is not a browser, so this site's link checker could not tell its page from a dead one.
