Some truths
should never die
Every Diablo V announcement, panel statement and reveal, filed with its trust state and primary source on the day it happened.
An aside at the reveal was widely read as confirming Diablo V for PC. Blizzard says it was an acknowledgement that PC and Battle.net are foundational to the company, not a platform announcement.
Two and a half years out from a window announced unusually early, Blizzard says it is very confident of hitting it.
Multiplayer exists and details will follow - that is the whole of it. The panel did not mention multiplayer once.
Blizzard confirms Diablo II-style runes and runewords, the return of equipment sets, and a grid inventory where items occupy different numbers of squares.
Diablo V uses a procedurally altered world that is meant to reflect Diablo's advancing rule over Sanctuary.
Instead of permanent hub cities, players travel with a growing caravan of survivors who act as merchants, companions and quest givers.
The panel recap is where most of the concrete systems information lives: itemisation, the caravan and the procedural world.
Blizzard has put up a page for Diablo V that takes sign-ups for development updates. It confirms the premise and the window, and nothing else.
The Plague Knight is the first entirely new Diablo V class: it spreads diseases and then consumes them as a source of power.
